July 8, 2008

Bruce called the meeting to order.

Diana gave the invocation.

Guests: Ryan Stewart/Stewart Air Conditioning, Carol Del Monte/Bank of the West

Happy Dollars

Keith is happy about his kids.

Carol's grandson is 1 year old.

Sandi had a fabulous time on the Delta Discovery celebrating the 4th of July  at the Marina.  The fireworks display was awesome!
Stan seconded that.

Bruce will be going to District Installation Dinner for all incoming presidents.

Brian Siebold works at Mechanic's Bank.  He has been in the banking business for the last 10 years.  Before that he worked in Lucky Stores.  He is a single dad with a 10 year old daughter and lives in Antioch.  He was born in Vancouver, Washington and then moved to Concord then to Oregon and returned to California in his junior year in high school. Welcome to Rotary Brian!

Assembly Meeting

Jim has been appointed Foundation Chairman.  He talked about the Paul Harris Foundation.
With a $1000 donation you become a Paul Harris Foundation member.  Jim talked about starting a policy where the club would match a members donation.  The Paul Harris Foundation goes toward curing Polio, Literacy, Water, Health, Eye Surgery, and Scholarships.

Meeting in a new location was under discussion...It was agreed that a spokesperson would talk with the manager of Delta View to see if they can improve the menu and quality of the food.  If not we should start looking for another location that would cater to our needs.

At this time we have 3 major fundraisers: Wine Sales, Golf Tournament, and Cook Book Sales.
We really need more members to participate in these activities.

The new President Elect is Caryn.

The Holiday Party this year will be December 6th and if everyone is in agreement it may be held on the Delta Discovery Cruise Ship. This would include dinner and a no host bar.

We are also planning on at least 4 social events for the year.

The greeter next week is Bruce.

Next week: Richard Radigonda will give us an update and history of the USS Hornet berthed in Alameda.

Lunch

Salmon with Hollandaise Sauce or Chicken Salad and Cake

See you all next week!
