Bruce gave the invocation.

Guests:  Bob Beck, Dr. Willie Wong

Happy Dollars

Mike had a plumbing problem over the weekend and had to shut down the running water.  He went to General Plumbing and found a little "piece" of pipe for $49.95 to fix it.  Now Barbara will be happy!

Barbara is happy that this is the first day of school and there are two brand new schools in the district.

Announcements

Ron gave out the Seafood Festival passes to the Rotarians that are working the beer booth.  He also said there will be no black tokens so make sure to bring cash for water, drinks and whatever......
Diana gave us details about the Zin Din at the Seafood Festival Friday night.

Mike announced the Comedy Blowout starring Will Durst in the small theater in the CAB Building Sunday October 5th at 7:00 PM.  More details in the next week or two.

Bruce suggested donating money for Bears for Africa project for the Governor's wife next week.

Mike said there was a nice article in the paper about the Literacy Program and Rotary was mentioned as one of the supporters.

Speaker

Ron Raman

Ron talked about the cameras strategically placed around Pittsburg and hooked up to the Police Department.  There are 38 cameras around town and 16 cameras at the Marina.  There are about 12-14 monitors at the Police Department.

Some of the crimes that were caught on camera and solved were:

10th and Railroad - Collision with a kid on skateboard showed that it was the boys fault and not that of the driver.

Female runaway - She made up a kidnapping/rape story and the cameras proved it never happened.

School Street - A kidnapping/rape case was solved because of the camera.

New surveillance equipment is being tested and used which will help Pittsburg to become a safer and lower crime environment.

Greeter next week will be Bruce.

There will be a Board Meeting before next week's meeting at 11 AM.   All Board members PLEASE be there.

The District Governor and his wife will be the speakers next week.

Lunch
Chicken with Pesto and Rice or Chicken Salad and Banana Cake

See you all next week!
