Chuck Graham, Photographer Rotary District PR Director and PR Director of the International Vision Volunteers

Chuck gave a wonderful slide presentation of the extraordinary work done by the International Vision Volunteers and Rotary in Zambia, Africa.  In a place called Zimba, Zambia, there is a hospital that provides services free of charge.  Everything from glasses to glaucoma are treated.  Cataract surgery is common.  Chuck, a frequent visitor to our club, went to Zambia in '04, '05, and '06.  International Vision Volunteers always needs volunteers and contributions.  They may be reached at www.internationalvisionvol.org.  It is quite inspiring to see Chuck so enthusiastic about this exceptional work inspite of his own health challenges.  Great Work Chuck!

Personal Notes and Errata . . .

New members Sandi and Marlin are taking on more club duties.  Thanks Marlin and Sandi...This is Membership and Extension Month.  Take a fresh look at our community and then commit to spending time exploring places where you might find new club members.  Challenge yourself to go beyond your comfortable circle of friends.  Let's be assertive about President Bruce's goals for new members.

Dear Friend of CAB Concerts:
We are proud to announce three exciting shows for the 2007 CAB Concerts fall season. Another 600 orchestra seats have been restored, bringing the total to 1,400 in the main auditorium, which is Contra Costa County's largest theatre.
The big news is the return of 'The Nutcracker' to the Creative Arts Building with the professional Peninsula Ballet Theatre company and full orchestra with an evening performance on Saturday, Dec. 8, and matinee on Sunday, Dec. 9. This will mark the first time in 40 years that 'The Nutcracker' will be performed here with a full orchestra.
Pittsburg native Pete Escovedo will play in his hometown for the first time on Saturday, Oct. 6 with his 10-piece Latin Jazz Orchestra. The CAB orchestra pit will be turned into a dance floor for anyone who wants to salsa the night away.
Have 'The Time of Your Life' on Saturday, Nov. 3 with JamFunkShus, an 11-piece rock-funk band, Cover2Cover, the East Bay's most popular party band, and the Tamsen Donner Band, blues with a beat. Concert goers wishing to purchase a special package can have dinner at the Wedgewood Banquet Center at the Pittsburg Golf Course, shuttle to the concert and post-concert reception at the Wedgewood featuring the Tamsen Donner Band.
This year we will designate a portion of proceeds from every concert to go to Pittsburg youth through a Pete Escovedo music scholarship, a contribution to Pittsburg High School performance arts (band, choir and drama) and to the Small World Park Ferris Wheel.
Enclosed is a concert schedule and season ticket plan. To purchase season tickets as a family, business or organization, please send a donation check to the non-profit Pittsburg Creative Arts Building Corporation (Tax ID 20-4862732), PO Box 8355, Pittsburg, CA 94565. Note that with group purchases (minimum of four tickets for each of the three shows), your family or group will receive an "Adopt-A-Seat" plaque to be placed on the seat of your choice in the main auditorium or Little Theatre.
Individual tickets are available on-line at
www.tix.com as well as our www.cabconcerts.com website. There are on sale at the Pittsburg Raley's, 1369 Buchanan Rd., or by calling the CAB Concerts ticket line at (925) 432-4992.
