President Bruce called the meeting to order. 

 

Linda gave the invocation and the 4-way test.

 

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

  Mike talked about the Pasta Cook-off.  His sauce was voted the favorite by the judges.  Way to go Mike!!!

Van got dethroned but did get the La Dolce Vita Award.  There was quite a few people that were not aware of the cook-off and would have liked to participate in either the cooking or the judging...Hopefully next year.....sounds like fun!

 

The golf tournament on Sept. 28th was briefly discussed...Anyone that wants to participate or volunteer needs to sign up.

 

There is still time to sign up for the Zinfandel Dinner.  We have two tables reserved....let's try to fill them up...It will most certainly be a night to remember... 

 

 The greeter next week will be Mike.  Bobby Belleci will be inducted into our chapter of Rotary so let's all be there to welcome him.  Our scholarship recipients will be attending  this meeting also...Let's show them our support!

         

 

SPEAKER

                    

  

The speaker was Susan Tonjes from Delta Blue Star Moms.  She spoke about having a son in the military.  The group was formed about 3 years ago to support military moms.  They accept all branches of the military except the Coast Guard.

 

They send care packages out to our men and women overseas 5 times a year..If you would like to put together a care package it would be greatly appreciated.  You can contact them at deltabluestarmoms@comcast.net

 

We were then asked to write notes of appreciation to our servicemen overseas....It looked as just about everyone did...Thanks guys....I know those few words will mean a lot.

Stan was happy about winning the best 20's car in the Car Show.....Congrats!!!!!!  Mike was happy that everything went well for the Pasta Cook-off.  Looking forward to the next one!
